Parfitt, secretary-general of the Global Network of WHO Collaborating Centres for Nursing and Midwifery Development, discusses some of the negative influences of globalization and how the WHO Collaborating Centres for Nursing and Midwifery Development are working to offset those influences by focusing on the ideals of equity, justice, participation and empowerment embodied in the Declaration of Alma-Ata.
