When Daniel J. Pesut, PhD, RN, PMHCNS-BC, FAAN, was inaugurated as president of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International for the 2003-05 biennium, he challenged members to “Create the future through renewal” and beckoned them toward a future marked by, among other things, volunteerism, reflective practice, attention to science, and conversations of hope and inspiration. With regard to the latter, he said, “Linking the social and intellectual capital of our members is yet another way to discover excellence, reach through to people’s genius and create the future through renewal.”

Today, as professor of the Department of Environments for Health and associate dean of graduate programs at Indiana University School of Nursing, Pesut continues to promote a better future for nursing—one of his areas of research is future studies—and he’s still bringing people together and starting conversations that advance the profession.

Now, through his blog, “Meta-Reflections,” you can benefit directly from his far-ranging insights, connections and expertise. Learn, in a very timely fashion, about things he’s observing, thinking, reading about and, of course, the people he’s connecting with and linking others to. And, since it’s a blog, you will have the opportunity to react by posting a comment and letting him and others know what you think. In other words, Pesut will continue to do what’s he’s done so effectively all along—starting conversations that advance the profession of nursing.

Why not join the conversation? Watch for Pesut’s latest blog posting in the “Recommended reading” section of RNL’s home page. RNL
